Also called No. 1, the Universal E string was designed to be mixed with any violin string set. Unlike other E strings, this string's steel core is wound with chrome steel rather than aluminum. This results in a warmer sound than steel, but a brighter sound than traditional wound E strings. The string's brilliant sound, combined with a quick response, prevents whistling when playing the open E.
